Most adults and children like to read storybooks or listen to the stories. But, adults readers and children readers are quite different. Good adult's books are not necessarily suitable for children. On the contrary, children's readers may be not liked by adults. There are some differences between adult's and children's storybooks.
First of all, setting is different between these two kind of strories. Adult's stories always has clearly description on setting .It includes when , where, how ,and why the story happen, meanwhile it also reflects the story's culture background. In contrast ,children's stories usually happened long time ago, and sometimes leave out describing the place or time.
Second, they are also different on characters. There are often many characters in adult's stories. And the main character usually undergoes a series of misforture ,misunderstanding, or training, then change to be a more beautiful or stronger person. On the other hand, there are not so many characters in children's stories, but specially, the characters sometimes are animals, plants or even objects.
Finally, the most prominent difference is the plot. The plot in adults' stories are more complicated and has a lot of conflicts. The length of the stories are always longer than childeren's because there are multiple points of view to describle. In addition, the ending is sometimes very surprising or terrible. However, the plot of children's stories are easy, simple ,and more formulaic. Children can guess what happened next. Besides, there are more repeated sentences or daily conversation in the stories, children can even remember all of the story. Moveover the ending is usually beautiful and happy.
Now ,we know adults' and children's stories are quite different. So, when we choose a book in the bookstore or library,we can distinguish easily the book is written for children or adults, just by checking its setting, characters and plot.
